Quotes and pricing
Do you provide free quotes?
Yes. Every quote is free and without obligation, following a home survey, a video survey or a phone conversation for smaller moves.
Do you survey before quoting?
For anything larger than a one-bedroom flat, yes. In person or over a video call, whichever you prefer. It takes about twenty minutes and means the quote is fixed rather than estimated.
What does a fixed price include?
Crew, vehicle, fuel, furniture protection, dismantling and reassembly of standard furniture, and insurance. Packing and materials are itemised separately so you can choose. There are no extras on the day.
How much does a house removal cost?
It depends on property size, distance, access at both ends, packing, specialist items and storage. A survey gives you one fixed number for your move rather than a rate card. Ask for a quote and we’ll come back within one working day.
What payment methods do you accept?
Bank transfer, debit card and credit card.
Booking and the move
How far in advance should I book?
As soon as you have a confirmed date. Property transactions can move quickly, and we’ll always do our best with short notice, but the earlier we know the more choice you have.
What if my completion date changes?
It happens. We hold your date as long as we can, and if the chain slips we’ll move you into storage and out again rather than leave you without a plan.
Will it be the same people on the day?
The director coordinates every move and is on site or on the phone throughout. Our crews are our own, not subcontracted.
Do I need to be there?
Ideally someone is at both addresses. If that isn’t possible, we can arrange key collection and a signed inventory instead.
Do you work weekends?
Yes. Seven days a week, subject to availability.
Packing, protection and specialist items
Can you help with packing?
Yes. Full packing, partial packing (usually the kitchen and fragile items), unpacking, and materials delivered ahead if you’d rather pack yourself.
How is furniture protected?
Blankets, covers and straps on every piece, with floor and doorway protection at both ends.
Can you move fragile or valuable items?
Yes. Antiques, artwork, mirrors, televisions, glass furniture and collectibles are wrapped individually and packed by hand.
Do you move pianos?
Upright and grand pianos, subject to a survey of access. Tell us when you ask for a quote.
Can you dismantle and reassemble furniture?
Yes. Beds, wardrobes, dining tables, desks and most large items.
Do you unpack?
Yes. We can unpack every box, set up beds, position furniture and take the packaging away.
Distance, storage and insurance
What areas do you cover?
We’re based in York and cover all of Yorkshire. We also move customers to and from every part of mainland Britain: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh and everywhere between. See our areas page.
How does a long-distance move work?
One crew, one vehicle, door to door. For longer distances we load on day one and unload on day two, with the vehicle locked and secured overnight.
Do you offer storage?
Yes. Short and long-term storage, collected, inventoried and delivered back by the same team.
Are my belongings insured?
Yes. We carry Goods in Transit and Public Liability insurance. Details of cover are available on request.
Do you do office moves?
Yes. Office and commercial relocations planned around your working week, usually over a weekend.
Do you help students?
Yes. We regularly move students to and from York’s universities and colleges, with a smaller crew and vehicle.
